Rich De La Rosa is a local businessman who has spent decades as an active community
volunteer – experience that brings the perspective of a father, homeowner, and local
business owner for nearly 30 years.
His deep roots, commitment to the community and business experience makes him the
ideal person to help lead San Jose to a better future as a City Council member.
His priorities will be bringing a strong business voice to the council, ensuring high
levels of police and fire protection and improving services to neighborhoods.
He will focus on fiscal accountability, better budget priorities and ensuring a
positive environment for businesses and jobs.
Rich is president of De La Rosa Latin American Imports in the Tropicana shopping
center and he owns his own insurance agency. His experience taught him to
be an independent thinker and problem solving leader — and showed him the need to
create a positive environment for creating jobs and improving the economy.
He started his insurance business on the east side of San Jose and moved it to
Blossom Valley almost 20 years ago, to be near his home and his children’s schools
and activities.
A native of San Jose, De La Rosa now lives in the Santa Theresa/Foothill area.
Rich and his wife, Misty, chose the area to raise their children — Rich, Jr.; Amber;
Alicia; Nicole; and Danny — because they enjoyed the friendly, safe neighborhoods,
good schools and a strong economy to build their businesses.
Rich has assembled an experienced team to help with his campaign — chaired by Vice
Mayor Pat Dando, business icon Mike Fox, Jr. serves as Finance Chair and the campaign
is directed by consultant Tab Berg who has run campaigns for Dando and Supervisor
Don Gage.
“I have a life-long commitment to community service. Serving on the Council
is not a job that I need, but it is a job I want.”
