Aloha, and welcome to the World’s Greatest Rotary Club!  Today’s greeter was Ruth Dunlap and wine ticket seller du jour was once again Charles Guderjahn.

President George Burrola opened the meeting with his customary and heartfelt Aloha!  The invocation was given by, Tim Colling. John Forst led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  President George next welcomed visiting Rotarians Pam Russell (La Jolla Golden Triangle and DGN for District 5340), Dick Salmon (late of Jupiter, FL), and Cindi Ciuffo (Rancho Bernardo Noon).  We then welcomed Cindi Ciuffo’s guests, Amy Nelson and Trip Matthews, and Sandi Rees’ guest, newly-appointed San Marcos City Councilperson, Rebecca Jones.

Jennifer Allen (Palomar Pomerado Lifeline) spoke briefly about the direct results achieved by our Club’s recent donation to her organization.  She spoke of one gentleman who received the lifeline device our donation provided who, living on a mere $750 a month, could not afford the modest fee they charge and is now able to participate in this life-saving service for free.  WE should all be proud.

Our next Board meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, February 6th at 5:30 pm at Tim Colling’s business, A SERVANT'S HEART SENIOR CARE located at: 1165 Linda Vista Drive, Suite 110, in San Marcos.  Due to the District Council Dinner (see below), this may be rescheduled. Stay tuned.

The next District Council Dinner will be February 13.  This is an excellent opportunity for Red Badgers to check off another orientation duty on the way to the coveted Blue Badge.

Today’s Recognition Master was Darrell McMullen.

Fulfilling her “Who Am I?” requirement, San Marcos Rotary Club Red Badger Sandi Rees, President and CEO of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce was today’s guest speaker. Click to view photo It’s hard to tell which she was prouder of, the positive changes at the Chamber, or her twin grandbabies.

Sam Beckett provided the Thought of the Week, but your newsletter editor didn’t receive a copy of his crib notes.

As always, thanks go to Nancy Wood for the decorations she provides to brighten our day.  This is in addition to her presence, of course.

Mahalo!  Enjoy your weekend!
