Welcome to the San Marcos Rotary Club, where we do something each and
everyday to make this world a better place. Our meeting today
was the Annual Holiday Party at Sam Mahr’s house. True to his
word he and his family put on one first class get-together. Many
excellent dishes were brought by all, and President Joan
exclaimed, “this is the best food we have ever had”. Ruth led
us in prayer and there was no flag salute.
Christmas gifts and gift certificates piled up for our Marine Adopted
family. As you remember, team leaders are Kenny who
will coordinate the gifts for Preston (7 years old); Matilda
who has Aubrey, 4 years old; and John who has Lawrence
(the Dad). Everyone is asked to pick a team leader and go
shopping! Besides gifts of toys and clothes they also need
basic staples so dry goods and food are a must. Be creative
and don’t quit. Gift cards to stores like Wal Mart, Target
and Costco are good and also gas cards so they can drive to the
store. When you think you’ve done enough throw in an extra
$20 for good measure. The family will be with us at our meeting
on December 23rd so everything has to be wrapped, tagged and brought
to the Country Club by then. I will load my pickup truck and
deliver everything after the meeting.

There was no wine drawing this week.
John Forst gave us the thought for the week from John Fitzgerald Kennedy,
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation
is not to utter words, but to live by them”.
Next week we will have a Mystery Speaker and if we follow the list our
Greeter will be Jean-Jacque; Charles will sell wine raffle
tickets, Juanita will give on the Invocation, Sam Hamod
will lead the Pledge, and Jim Hitson will share his “Thought for
the week”.
As Joan says “Go out and make this world a better place”... Have a great Rotary Week... Rob.
