I have been endorsed by regional leaders because as we tackle problems in our own cities, we
quickly realize there are a lot of other agencies that have an impact on what we do here in
Escondido. I am able to work with others to improve our quality of life here in Escondido
and San Diego County. We can call a city our home, but we work and play throughout the
region. Our quality of life in Escondido is impacted by the quality of life we share
with our neighboring cities.
As Mayor for the last 12 years I have been honored to attend a variety of events. I have
attended personal family events, whether they were anniversary celebrations or birthday parties as
well as public affairs, even a kindergarten graduation. I have attended Eagle Scout's Courts
of Honor, installations of new Ministers, rest homes to honor the workers who take care of our elderly,
and big and little celebrations at our Joslyn Senior Center. I have had the opportunity to share
the achievements of Escondido residents. It has made me very proud of who we are as a community.
I have attended so many events because those that have invited me wanted to share their achievement
with our community. I have attended because all those that are being honored are proud of what
they have done and want to share it. They need to know that we as a city are proud of their
accomplishment. It brings us together as a community. We work and we contribute to making
Escondido a truly wonderful city.
