Wow! Boys and their Toys! Joe on a Suzuki DR 250Z doing a jump with a nice flat landing! These were a great bike on the farm, very reliable and one of the best hill climbers.

In the background is the mighty Hymac 580C excavator. What a beast. Took a real man to drive one of these all day. It was like a work out at the gym as the levers came up out of the floor and with a bit of wear it took a fair bit of movement to bring on the action.

As you can see the cab was on the opposite side. Weighed about 12 ton. We had a Nissan 6 wheeler and we used to jump up on the back no ramps. What a feat.

The biggest hassle was moving it around as its walking speed was about 2 snails an hour. We conned our young neighbor kid Stuey Waters to often drive it from farm to farm and give him a couple of peanuts per hour.

At some point we got pins and bushes done in the boom by a engine rebuilder in Palmerston North. They were probably working on too tight a tolerances as the pins froze on one joint and we ran into all sorts of drama. Yes we did live and learn.
