Holden One tonner. They were a hit as the name suggests. Took a strong man to steer one of these.
We have a before and after photo. We did some silly things those days to get power. The 202 engine was taken out of the Holden and placed into a CF Bedford coupled to a 5 speed box.
A 305 V8 was placed into the Holden coupled to an auto trans. The chap that did this was Diesel Don (Don Isles). I believe when Don was driving the CF Bedford over the Desert road the carburettor froze but with the help of the hot water in his thermos he kept it mobile.
With mag wheels fitted and Michelin tyres it raced most cars.
Some years later through days of heavy negotiations and when we finally got all the gorse and thistles out of Scott Miers pockets who at the time was a budding 19 year old businessman (now the owner of PTS) we did a deal.
