There are two basic principles that affect hitch and attachment speed: pressure and flow. One of the most frequently asked questions we get is about hitch and attachment speeds. When a tilt-hitch (or attachment) is operating slower or faster than preferred, we’re often the first to get a phone call about it.

There are two main principles of hydraulics that are affecting the performance of your attachment/Tilt Hitch.

1) Hydraulic flow - This is how much hydraulic oil gets supplied to the attachment for any period of time. Flow will affect the speed of your attachment/Tilt hitch. To increase the speed of your attachment you need to increase flow.

2) Hydraulic pressure - This is the amount of pressure being supplied to the attachment. Pressure affects the ability of your attachment/Tilt hitch to do work - the force/power of your attachment. To increase the power of your attachment you need to increase pressure.

In short, the speed of your attachment/tilt hitch is primarily affected by the excavator's hydraulic settings, not just the attachment/tilt hitch itself. Some newer and more modern machines have the ability to adjust flow and pressure electronically from the cab - which can help a lot when switching between attachments.
